Dance Auditions
Tuesday 12/2 3:30-5:30pm (Lower Cafeteria)
-Dress to dance (comfortable clothes, no jeans), wear shoes that are easy to move in. If you have dance shoes, jazz shoes or dance sneakers are best.
-You will be taught a short dance routine and will perform it in a group. Everyone auditioning for the show will do this.
-We will be focused on your ability to:
-
Sequence the dance steps
-
Look uniform to other dancers and the choreographer in your interpretation. We want to see how closely what you do matches what you’re shown, rather than your individual take on it.
-
Show us on your face as you dance.

Vocal Auditions
Wednesday 12/3 (Lecture Hall)
-Sign up for a 4 minute time slot between 3:30-6:30pm:
-
Students should prepare a musical theatre song that is NOT from Mamma Mia!. We provide an accompanist. Sheet music is required (lyric sheets, guitar ‘tab’, and lead sheets are not acceptable).

-
We want you to showcase your voice AND acting/storytelling skills. Pick a song you can perform, not just sing. Show off your personality!
For your Vocal Audition, prepare a song that is similar to the vibe of Mamma Mia! This can be any musical theatre song from a contemporary pop or pop rock musical. We would like to hear an energetic song.
Examples of songs that would be good for this audition (Yes, you could use any of these, or find something like them that fits the criteria):
-
“Heaven Help My Heart” from Chess
-
“Right Hand Man” from Something Rotten
-
“I Don’t Know How to Love Him” from Jesus Christ Superstar
-
“My Strongest Suit” from Aida
-
“Soul of a Man” from Kinky Boots
-
”All That’s Known” from Spring Awakening
-
“The Origin of Love” from Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Consider musicals such as Chess, Jesus Christ Superstar, Rent, Footloose, Hair, Spring Awakening, and Jukebox musicals.
Consider musicals from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Composers that write contemporary pop or pop rock musicals include: Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jason Robert Brown, Tom Kitt
An example of something we DON’T want to hear: Disney Musicals like High School Musical; Heathers
If you have an idea of a song you want sing, but you’re not sure if it’s a good idea, ASK US! We’ll tell you.
